It would be difficult to calculate the actual expense, but I can give you an idea of some of it from my experience: I think food depends a lot on where you live, what time of year it is, how much your ig eats to fit its needs, etc., and it is hard to average out even at that, but I'm gonna guess maybe $5-$15 a week (???). A vet visit at least once a year for probably $50-$100; UVB bulb once a year if plenty of available sun, otherwise 2 a year at about $30, night light bulb a few times a year at about $6-10, or a ceramic heat emitter at about $40, maybe $30 to complete first-aid/supplies kit. My utility bills have skyrocketed, if I added them up and averaged them out, my guess is that they have increased roughly $200-$300 a month.

This does not take into consideration the initial start-up costs consisting of cage/supplies, and additional vet visits, which for illness always involve cost of treatment, and most times costs of tests. Additionally this past year I spent another $70 on medical expenses for myself as a result of a bite on my ear that required 5 stitches.

I hope this helps, it's mostly guestimating, since I don't keep financial records and probably wouldn't have to the time to really sit down and average it more exactly. It costs a little more than I had originally anticipated, but I'm not complaining. Right now I have 6 iguanas at my house and I love every one of them!
