I will keep this post short, since so many very good points have already been made. There are 2 points in your post tho that I must disagree with, so I'll get that over with first, and I will try not to be offensive. The first is the hobbyist thing: I think you are wrong to make the judgment that we are hobbyists because we care for pets. I care for many pets, reptiles and mammals, and I have 2 teenage boys to care for as well. While I do all I can to care for them properly and want the best for all of them, I have made a hobby out of none of it. Second: I think your assumption that people assume those things on your long list is insulting. While I can only speak for myself, I have not assumed even one thing on your list. And while I can't make a judgment myself, based on the posts, I would be hard pressed to believe that many, if any, of the regular posters make those assumptions.

With that said, I would say again that I think many significant points have been made regarding the medical issue. The bottom line is that we should all have a good herp vet from whom to seek advice and treatment, and I haven't seen anything that indicated otherwise. The consensus seems to be, as it has all along, see your vet for medical concerns, oftentimes asap. It is, however, important, and necessary IMHO, to continue medical *discussions* on the forum regarding people's personal experiences for the many reasons stated in others' posts and it seems to me that it would be a disservice to discontinue those discussions. Then what would be next to go...diets? I mean, I think it's understood that not many, if any, of us are nutritionists, and specifically iguana nutritionists at that, but where would the forum be without the *many* diet discussions that go on? Then it could go on and on. Hopefully whatever misunderstanding sparked this will be soon be cleared up and put away.

Well that's my piece, and I still agree with Ally's mom...and many others since her post :-)
