disclaimer: i'm NOT a doctor or vet! i just have experience with this ... unfortunately!!!
i think Baytril is definitely something to try since we are unsure of the *cause* of his renal probs ... at this point, i do not think it could hurt ... and could possibly do a world of good ...
did he actually *vomit* or was he perhaps *unable* to swallow??? the 2nd choice is preferrable and can be helped by using a stomach tube ...
if he did indeed *vomit* ... i'd recommend x-rays to make sure this is not an obstruction ... (igs don't generally vomit do they????) ... when was the last time he *did* poop??? ... even tho his care these last 2.5 yrs has been *excellent*, he had a rough past + it is very possible that it pretty much 'set him up' for kidney probs and this has been coming on for some time ... (like iZ ... his kidneys swelled, pressed against his colon and caused him to be obstructed by some very *small* objects that he should have been able to pass normally ~ before we knew what was going on!) ... so it's something to consider if Draco is unable to keep liquids down ... then, unfortunately, we're talking emergency surgery ... but i get ahead of myself ....
i'd continue to get pedialyte in him and *not* worry about food as much for the next 24 hrs ...
if his system is in a weakened state from the dehydration, he will not be able to process calories right now any way ... concentrate on rehydrating him ...
warm the pedi to 80 degrees (sorry- can't translate that to your system ...) so that it is less a shock to his system, warm fluids also will be absorbed more readily by his system ...
since he's vomited, i'd only try 5cc at a time and make sure he can keep that down ... try another 5-10cc in an hour or 2 ...
we were guessing Draco's weight at less than 2 kilos if i remember right??? 20cc per kilo so he needs maybe 30-35cc of fluids per day ... 10-15cc 3x a day would get the totals about right ...
keep him warm 85-90 degrees ... keep him as stress-free as possible ... meaning if you are not needing to give him drinks or take him to potty, leave him alone, let him sleep ... might consider shortening his length of daytime ... turn his lights out earlier so that he *thinks* it's his bedtime and will sleep more and relax more ...
if he cannot keep fluids down, you will have to consider giving sub-cutaneous injections to rehydrate him ... but personally, i feel by mouth is the way to go ...
*praying for Draco*
Bon. + iZ
