well, 1st of all, an iguana will never be domesticated the way a dog or cat will .... they CAN learn to trust you tho (AND IMO, they DO show affection .... *grin*)
it takes ALOT of patience and persistance on your part .... the ig is most likely pretty darn sure that you are a predator who's going to eat it and it's just plain scared ..... go slow and try to handle your ig a few times a day for a few minutes (at least) to start with .... try to do things at the same time every day and in the same way .... if you can develope a routine, the ig will more or less know what to expect when he sees you and will learn that you are not going to hurt him .... pick him up by putting your hand underneath him so he can feel something solid under him and won't think he's going to fall ... i used put my hand under iZ's chest and then place his "hands" one by one on mine and then do the same with his back feet onto my arm .... (now, HE puts his hands and feet on me when i put my hand under him .... *grin*)
again, mostly you need ALOT of patience .... NO sudden movements .... (wear long sleeve shirts) ... TRY to NOT react if/when he gets scared and freaks out on you .... igs like heights, so he may be more willing to sit on your shoulder than in your hand .....
see Melissa Kaplin's site (if you haven't already!) for tons and tons of great ig info!!!!
