In Reply to: did anyone think they had a boy ig and find out otherwise? posted by Katherine on September 25, 2000 at 16:36:26:
I am now beginning to think that maybe my iggy is
a female, instead of a male. He has the larger
spikes, dewlap, and thick tail (at the base), but
I am now beginning to wonder. He has never really
seemed to go through a mating season, I have never
seen any seminal plugs, and his femoral pores seem
like they shrunk. When he was smaller his femoral
pores were HUGE compared to his body, now it seems
like he grew into them. The vet told me that he
thought it was a male, but I am not sure. Anyone
have any suggestions about if this could be male
or female? He was only about a foot when we got him
(about a year ago, so he is AT LEAST one year old),
and now he is probably about 2 1/2 feet (from snout
to tip of tail). Don't males usually start mating
season, etc. at about 1 1/2 years? He is AT LEAST
that old, probably more towards 2 years old.
