One thing you realize is that this iguana is probably over stressed right now. Try not to bother him any more than you have to, unless your taking him to the Vet. He's probably just confused and scared with being in a new place and having medical problems.
He may or may not mellow out, but you won't know for at least a month or so. He needs to be around you more to decide for his self if you're ok.
Keep the area around his cage fairly quiet for the next week or so. Then, turn a radio on every day to a station that plays soft music, don't crank it up just make it loud enough so he can hear it.
Try that for a few more weeks and slowly start talking to him and staying in the room for longer periods of time.
Remember, things don't happen over night with an iguana.....sometimes it takes months.
