Ya know, here's a thought. When we hear of igs wandering around here -- everyone ASSUMES it's abandoned. People take them in without bothering to check to see if it is a missing pet(in which case he may be playing king of the castle right now while you worry!), or take them to the nearest pet store or animal shelter.
I would keep checking the pet stores and shelters close by a little longer, as someone previously stated, he would now be seeking warm places like porches.
