Call the vet, keep in daily contact with him to see if he has anything different to offer. Can you do any further testing?
Now, is he spitting back up the water or you just can't get any into him? His throat may be swollen if you are having a problem getting it down...or if he is spitting it up or sneezing it out you may actually be getting it down his windpipe, which happens.... (I speak from experience!). Good luck, keep up posted and let me know if you have any questions, etc.
