If a large iguana's tail is broken near its body, and it is bleeding profusely, it might need stitches. And I've seen my vet put stitches in a tail relatively near the tip when he removed part of it for some reason.
Luckily I've never had to deal with this, so I'm not sure which is the better way, stitches or not...

: is it true that when BIG iguanas loose their tails they have to have stitches? when my ig lost a SMALL part of his tail i called an emergency room vet and he said that he might need stiches. i didn't really believe him so i waited until my normal herp vet clinic opened up the next morning and they then told me to just leave it alone and now it's all healed and everything... so i was just curious, was the emergency vet right?
