Early ams...late evening are ig "down times" less active and less likely to get nutz on ya ;-)
Clip them when she's sleepy & dopey the lights are ready to go out or come on while they're hanging out on their basking logs/shelf...wherever. Ive clipped my female igs claws as she's hung on her vinyl coated wire doors...waiting for me to let her out!! Tricky huh! Try wrapping her in a towel late evening when she's dopey....taking one claw out at a time, dimmed lights, maybe she'll let ya. Important to get your ig used to you touching her feet & tail. If you haven't started this....start today....and give the dirty deed a try in a couplea weeks. You can make out what you need to clip...the very tip is thin and small compared to the rest of the nail. Oh about the beauty supply store....I read this on a mailing list Im on....if you are familiar with acrylic nails you might want to try putting a coating of acrylic over the hook part...you dip a small paint brush in the primer then the powder put a coating on the hook and voila!! No more razor cuts...and it lasts a long time! The primer & powder costs about $10. Toenail polish optional! Just make sure you do this is a well ventilated area!
It dries quick too! I haven't tried it YET! but the thought of painting my female iguanas nails is kinda neat too!..orange or green to match the beads on the ID/necklace she wears...hmmmmm
No??? lololol
