I'm not sure what presentation you saw or who gave it, but my experiences have been just the opposite. We've had at least two talks here at the Chicago Herp Soc. by Chuck Knapp that were outstanding. They've done quite a bit to directly influence the well being of at least three critically endangered Cyclura species. Right now, they're working on getting together enough money to put some fencing in place on Andros Island.
