unfortunately ~ there's no magic cure + even tho this last year, iZ has had *huge* problems with his spikes shedding, i've yet to find a good solution to it ... (iZ's spike probs are related to his kidneys tho ...)
about all you can do is daily soaks, put a warm, wet washcloth over Spunky's back/spikes to soak them more ... a light coat of mineral oil between baths can help keep the stuck shed a bit softer and less constricting to the spike itself ... gently massage the spikes while they're soft from soaking ... you can try gently 'scratching' at them from the base up with your finger nail ... usually with iZ, it was the base of the shed that was stuck ... sometimes the little 'fringe scales' that kinda stick up over the base of the spike are the problem ... the spike 'skin' is connected to these little fringe scale's 'skin' and if you can get *them* loosened, the spike shed loosens too ... (did that make sense at all???)
and ... it sux, but sometimes nothin' works and part of the spike isn't save-able ... (iZ sez it makes him look macho + so he doesn't mind)
