In Reply to: are BONSAI's OK in cage? Also, need opinion on project...... posted by IGUANA JOE on September 12, 2000 at 15:08:53:
I would automatically assume the igs will try to eat the bonsai. I don't know if they're harmful or not. And the big swimming pools: make sure your ig can easily climb out so he doesn't drown. I wish I had space to build a mini jungle like that. :)

: I saw some bonsais that are quiet nice and "big" to look neat in a terraria for my ig. They wont be used for climbing (duh) but for decor they seem fantastic. They have them also with 'mini-waterfalls' and fountains too!
: But is it ok to use them? or will the iguana eat/destroy the little tree?
: About the project:
: - Room-sized, 10'X10'X10' terraria.
: - fake grass/turf puti in tiles for easy removal/cleaning.
: - vases and pots containing:
: > ficus benjamina (2 large ones)
: > bonsais' (if ok)
: > fake palm trees
: - rocks put around vases and pots to prevent spills, and "knock-overs", and for access to climbing.
: - plastic vines on the walls.
: - small fountains (self-filtered, for drinking and decor)
: - 2 pools:
: > fish pool with goldfish and the like (small)
: > swimming/bathing pool
: > one is 5' sq. (bath) other is 3.5' sq.
: - toilet (kitty litter with baby wipes).
: - proper lighting
: - assorted logs.
: What do you think? It should look like a small jungle, with almost everything needed.
: It will take me time to get all the stuff (and the money!), but so far so good uh?
: All q's and comments welcomed.
: Thanx!
