Well, we went to the vet today. He's leaning towards Baby being a girl but says it still too early to tell. I'm excited though because Baby looks %100 percent better since we went five months ago and has gained 5 ounces. I asked the Vet about the cage we are planning to build and he said to be carefull because the bigger they are, the harder they are to heat properly. He recommended that if we do go that big that we put two-three thermometers in there to moniter the temps at all times.
Here's my question....we priced what it would cost us to build a 6ft tall by 5ft wide by 3ft deep cage at Lowes using 3/4 inch plywood, for the sides and bottom and 2x4's for the frame (we haven't decided on plexi or garden mesh yet) and came up with a rough estimate of $60-100. (not including lighting). My hubby has the tools he needs and would do all the work himself. Should we go ahead and build the biggie, or wait a year or so and build a slightly smaller one for now? Our vet made it seem like we didn't need one that big yet. He has a five foot female and said she stays in a cage the size of his operating table and does fine.
I'm still leaning toward the large cage. Let me know what you think. Baby is only 18 inches right now. Thanks. J
