: : no....iZ eats all fresh vegies and fruits so i can't help ya with that part ....
: : just wanted to say that if you should decide to change his diet, do it very, very slowly .... if you switched from dry food to all fresh stuff, he'll get the "runs" and possibly get dehydrated ...
: : read the label of the food container ... MOST (not all) people feel igs should not have any animal proteins in their diet .... what kind of health is he in???? what's his/your vet think about it?
: : best wishes to you both!

: Young iguanas require only 20% plant protein to maintain good health. Reed's Food uses only plant protein, at the recommended level.
: In the wild, iguanas eat mostly leaves and some flowers, fruit and occasionally insects. Reed's food contains the equivalent amount of fiber as found in these staples. As a side benefit, iguanas' stools are more compact and have less odor than those produced through digestion of mixed vegetables
: Serving a variety of mixed vegetables is not always the answer because many fruits and vegetables are extremely high in phosphorus, creating an unhealthy nutrient balance. If you use a variety of mixed vegetables, you need a good nutrition book to check out the cal/phos ratio. Very often poor nutrition will showup at 4 or 5 years old.
: With good nutrition a common iguana should live 10 to 15 years. I have one documented at 27 years.
: I have changed many iguanas to Reed's Iguana diet. Instead of developing the runs, the stools were more compacted and had less odor. With any dry food always have fresh water available.
