: Took in 2 new rescues last night, a pair, about 4.5 feet. These two were kept in a 50 gallon breeder tank with a chandelier light bulb and 2 small heat rocks. As far as I know they were fed romaine, carrots and pelleted food. They have changed hands 3 times since I first heard of them on August 10th. The first thing we did was give them a bath and watched the water turn muddy brown......yuck!! They are doing surprisingly well, eating and basking and seemingly quite relaxed. The male was to the vet today for a check on a couple things. Nothing major going on but we have to watch a hard swelling on his leg for a couple weeks. When he is rehabbed and nourished a little better we may do a biopsy. The female is lovely, beautiful colors and quite heavy. We have observed some toe tremors and muscle twitches so have started them both on a healthy calcium regimen. This sure is disheartening.

: Here are some pics if you'd like to see these two.
