the orphans need our help, you are right. the amount of already abused and neglected igs in the world today is amazing. iguanas are not for the average joe that doesnt want to spend a vast majority of their day caring for their pet. once owners figure out they do grow and they are so expensive to keep they want to get rid of their cute little green problem. thanks for posting. have fun with your "crocs" did you say crocs? wow!now thats a lizard~~sue3
: : I'm worried about my 3 year old gravid girl. She is losing weight
: : and now looks terrible. She laid a deformed egg about 2 weeks ago
: : but I can still see the others in her abdomen. I'm an experienced
: : herper, mainly snakes, monitors, crocs, but not with iguanas.
: : Is it normal for her to lose so much weight?
: : Also, what is the incubation process? I have a hovibator,
: : or can I simply put the eggs in damp vermiculite as long
: : as I know the temp, about 78F?
: : Please advise,
: : All the Best,
: : Roy

: After reading more posts on this lists, please let it be
: known I am not actively breeding these animals on purpose,
: rather, I take in orphans and sometimes nature does, well you know.
: Certainly, I'm not going to spay or neuter or take up more needed cage
: space to seperate all of these poor, homeless, Ceasar Salad Eaters! BTW, Now,
: all iguanas are captive bred and hatched in Central America on
: farms and NOT WC. Not just for the pet trade, but as a traditional
: foodstuff for the locals, as well.
: Thanks,
