You listed pretty much all the reasons I don't like feeding live prey...we had a snake in one of my classes at school and the rat bit the snake before he became dinner. But since the only reptile I have is an iguana, I don't have to worry about stuff like that. :)
I'm thinking about adding a leopard gecko eventually, though...
Just rambling,
Katherine
: Hello,, Im a vegetarian ( still eat egg and dairy products) so Im not vegan, but, I do have my reasons for being veg. But, I dont feel its right to force my diet and beliefs on my carnivorous lizards, or anyone else(nor would I on a dog or cat, and there is still great debate on whether or not a cat can be healthy on a veg diet). If I didnt give my leopard geckos crickets or worms and such they wouldnt survive =( I feed my snakes pre-killed frozen rats (thawed of course) because I think its better for them, I feel they have less of a chance of getting parasites from a dead previously frozen mouse then from a live one. I also like knowing that the company I buy from "says" they are grain fed only. Also, I would hate for a scared rat to injure one of my snakes during feeding. The forum I visited does have some vegetarian people and omni people both as visitors. Thanks for your opinion, Yvette =)
