Hi...from what I remember...any sprouts can be contaminated with salmonella (iZ's mom mentioned this in a couple posts below *g*), and alfalfa sprouts have little to no nutritional value. I think it went that you would have to use mature alfalfa for your ig to gain any nutrition from it.

: Hello, I was at a different forum (not even a reptile forum)where some people there are posting that ANY lizard (not just igs) can thrive on a strict vegetarian diet (no insects no animal protien at all)because they feel its wrong to feed insects because of ethical reasons. I do know that my ig will and does thrive on a strict veggie diet, but, this person is saying "all lizards" like beardies and such can be strict veggies. Anyway, this person recommends alfalfa sprouts, apples, pears, and some other stuff as a diet for ALL lizards. I remember reading somewhere that alfafa sprouts shouldnt be fed to igs, but , dont remember why. One of the people on this forum then sent me a link to a petsmart care sheet on igs that lists all the foods the person mentioned ( I dont see petsmart as a reptile authority but, I guess this person does, I feel that they are giving out bad info, and some reptiles could be hurt due to this lack of knowledge =( Please enlighten me about Alfalfa Sprouts, and also your opinions on this subject would be appreciated, thanks, Yvette
