ok ~ there are 7 different kinds of Hydrangea ... the only one that has the *potential* to be poisonous is
Hydrangea macrophylla:
Young leaves contain the toxin hydrocyanic acid, this reduces as the leaves grow older, often to zero levels.
the one i've been researching/considering using is Hydrangea arborescens (aka "Seven Barks") and it has No Known hazards ...
Seven barks was used by the North American Indians as a remedy for kidney and bladder stones and is still used for these purposes in modern herbalism. It is considered to both encourage the expulsion of stones and to help dissolve those that remain.
The roots are ... are used in the treatment of kidney stones, mucous irritations of the bladder, cystitis, nephritis, enlarged prostate and bronchial afflictions.
this is consistent with everything else i've found so far ... will continue to research a few more days tho ...
