Looking at the list, a lot of what they said makes sense. Many of the plants are poisonous to us( humans ). Others are too tough ( thorny, barky, thick skinned, etc ) for an ig to eat. Another rule that seems to run true according to the plants listed is that: sprouts, bulbs, seeds and certain parts of plants contain toxins - this is due to the facts that plants will store concentrated amounts of chemicals ( natual ones ) in certain parts of the plant. This is usually in the parts of the plants that have to do with reproduction and/or storage for seasonal hibernation - which if you think about about, makes sense.

I know that avocados ( which are really expensive around here, even though they are grown about 150 miles away )have a very high concentration of fat. There are quite a few humans that are allergic to avocados.

If I could make up a general rule of thumb, I would say that you should think twice and do some research if : (1) the plant is poisonous to humans, (2)some humans have allergic reactions to it, (3)if you eat it and it has a very bitter or questionable taste to it, (4) you aren't supposed to feed it to human babies.
