Asking is the first step to getting some information.....but in the end, you must make your own decision on what you feel to be the best. I would suggest gathering as much info as possible ( write it down or print it) and then look it all over and determine what you feel you need to do, to supply your iguana with a well balanced diet.
Some of us here believe in having blood work done on our iguanas bi-yearly or at least once a year. I'm a firm believer, that studying the results and making changes where needed, will help your iguana in the long run. We don't supply any Vitamins or Calcium powders for our 4 iguanas. They get enough Calcium from their diet and lab results show levels are good. You can also tell if you need to up the humidity levels by blood work too. We typically run a 60% greens, 30% Veggies and 10% fruits. But we change up monthly or so.....like 50% greens 35% veggies and 15% fruits. We spray their food down with water before feeding them and add extra moisture to their diet. We recommend Jen Swoffords site for newer iguana owners because it's alittle easier and straight forward, compared to MK's. Here's some basic stuff to remember:
1) No animal protein
2) study content values of food items, look for Ca:P ratios, you want a ration of close to 2:1
3) keep basking area around 95 degrees during the day
4) supply 4 hours of direct sunlight (outside) during the warm months
5) change any UVB 5.0 bulbs every 6 months, also make sure it's within 18" of your iguana during the day
6) Try if you can, to supply a humidity range of at least 70-80% or supply other methods of moisture intake.
7) Watch shedding times for any shed that doesn't come off, troubling areas, such as: tail, toes, spikes.
8) Have a yearly fecal test done
9) Don't use a hot rock
10) Start feedings in the A.M. for better digestion
11) Don't think about breeding your iguana ;)
Hope this helps some, others will add
