Same as humans (even tho we don't have a tail ...well some of us anyway ;-)..in Maders shows pics of reptiles with just leg casts, some supported with rods that run along externally inside the cast, some with rods/ pins inside keeping the bone together. I think it depends more on where the break is, extent of fracture and vet experience as to where and how the bone is secured. A cast itself would immobolize and support the fracture right?
