Iguanas need about 12 hrs of day and 12 hours of night. When winter comes adjust accordingly. They will be getting about an hour or so less day time lighting. You need to read Melissa Kaplans website and buy her new book. I read about the day vs night there as well as a million other things. If you start trimming their nails when they are babies...the over all length of their nails will be shorter when their adults. What I mean is...if you don't trim them and wait until they are real big....the blood vessels in the nails end up growing towards the tip of the nail and the nails will bleed when you trim them.Don't trim until you buy quick stop ....just incase you hit a vessel you'll have the proper stuff around to fix it. I can't explain this very well... LOL :o) My dog has the same problem....I let his nails grown too much in between trims...so they will bleed if I take them all the way down. Just trim the tips that are sharp and do this on a regular basis and you won't have any problems. Boy I can tell this is going to ba a LONG day. LOL babble babble............ here's the site
