Thanks for all the input though I was hoping to get a bit more. I kinda set you up though as I didn't give you enough info about this iguana or my experience with these animals as I wanted to get as many ideas and responses as possible. I was expecting to get flogged mercilessly for the suspected poor care of my iguana. You guys are too nice! Anyway, me and my brother have kept and bred green iguanas for about six years and have had this happen a few times now. In fact, James Hatfield III, author of Green Iguana, The Ultimate Owner's Manual, observed the hatching of the clutch that this iguana came from. Maybe one iguana per clutch will have this happen to it while it's clutchmates thrive. It doesn't seem to be absorbing nutrients despite high food consumption. I saved back this particular iguana and have gave it extraordinary care but to no avail. It is very active and otherwise acts normal. I'm thinking maybe a genetic defect. Also I'd like to get some opinions on the likelihood of reptiles contracting parasites from well washed, pesticide free garden veggies and the occasional dandilion out of the yard. Also grocery store veggies on occasion. Thanks.
Mike
