I've heard that covering the heat rock can actually make them more of a fire hazard because all the heat is concentrated in one place and can't escape. When I got my iguana, he had a heat rock the previous owners had covered with a sock. That thing got **hot**.

: I got the Iguana from this girl and she gave me a heat rock. (that she used for him) I've never plugged it in because I know there not good for them. I just thought that if I put something over it to take some of the direct heat off it might be ok but I will go and buy a heatting pad for him!! Thanks alot to everyone....
