A 20 gal tank will only last you a very short time. 2/3 months. See if any of the pet stores have a 55gal that won't hold water. They will sell it at a fraction of the cost. Even that size will only be good for 6/8 months depending on how big the iguana is when you buy it. The most expensive part of a tank is the lid that hold the lighting. If you can hold off for about another week I think I think we can get you better ideas for a cage. I lost all my links but I will try and find them for you. You can build a cage that will be a lot better, a little more expensive than the 20 gal tank, but will last you a lot longer.
Grocery store for food, NO CRICKETS. I don't care what the pet store tells you. Don't buy any care book that mentions feeding crickets, gravel, grit, or lettuce. Collard greens, mustard greens, turnip greens or dandelion greens. Other veggies, green beans, parsips, and yellow squash. Fruits (only a little), oranges, rasberries, and cantelope. These are only a few. There are some things that are good for them and some that should only be fed as a treat.
Links needed if anyone has them:
Glenn Miller's Cage Page: Has a knockdown PVC cage link that can be modified to have three plexiglass walls. Not very expensive to build.
LLLReptiles: Good cheap supplies, has the best price for a UVB tube light, Reptisun 5.0 or IguanaLight 5.0 (a must) Half the price of what they sell it for at Petco.
The Basking Spot: Good information on iguanas.
Melissa Kaplans: Good information.
USDA food database: Nutriential(sp) value of food.
The link provided is to our page. Has 2 of the links mentioned above. Please go and read.
