Yup you guessed correct, turnip is white with purple top, and rutabaga is the yellow/golden color.
Your going to have an easier time getting tunip or rutabaga greens if you plant the seed. You can try
getting some greens off the tops of the roots after planting them but I don't think your going to get too many.
Although I've seen no data on the rutabaga greens either, I have used them in the summer instead of turnip greens, since that is what the farmers market grow here.
Haven't had any problems with rutabaga greens.
You can also get seeds that will yeild just turnip tops, they have a very small root, so they are mainly grown for the greens.
