Thank you Gina, I'm always glad to see you on the AOL iguana forum and you know why.
: I don't know many people that have a room :
:devoted to an ig...
You're right about that. But some people can share a room with an iguana, such as a bed room or bath room. Some people cannot, and have no choice but to keep the iguana caged.
:but I agree with you that this would be the best scenario for an ig. I think people who have an ig room are in the minority tho. Isn't an ig room :just a big enclosure?
Yes, you could think of it as a big enclosure but there's something that just gives iguanas a different feeling about it. When they are aware of the cage or boxed in feeling, as does happen with many iguanas, feeling trapped or vunerable, it's a real problem if it keeps them from getting calm, especially when someone comes near and reaches at them.
By the way, I did see a tremendous amazing set up where a guy built a cage as big as the large room is was in. I'm not sure what the point was because there was about 1 foot of clearence all the way around with the cage in the middle. I mean why even have the cage, it was taking almost the full space of the room.
:Ive seen many more ig owners...have their igs free-roaming in the house or in enclosures of some type. I sure would love to have such space available for my igs....someday I s'pose.
: Gina (dreamin is free
I don't say free-roam in the entire house or apartment because that makes it all the more difficult to make it iguana safe, from escapes, hiding places, eating the wrong things, etc.
I say a room, seeing it as somewhat more practical and reasonble, many people would have no problem sharing a room, such as a bedroom, keeping the door shut and being a part of the furniture for the iguana.
