Sure...you can use them any time. I use ceramic at night.... with red bulbs made for reptiles. Not party bulbs. They make them in a couple of different shades ...but that's what they had in stock. The red bulb also gives heat,so they have plenty at night. During the day you can even use a regular light bulb 40 watt is good. Put it outside like all bulbs so they won't get burned....and only to the areas that don't have a basking light going. Good luck....lighting and diet were the two hardest things for me to get straight. :o)
