: : : We all get that gut wrenching feeling in our stomach when we see a young child gleefully carrying a lifeless lizard at our local carnival. But it doesn't have to be this way. This is where you guys come in. I am planning on making up a bill to send to Washington, to outlaw this practice nationwide, and to give stiff penalties. Hopefully if we can get it passed the press will get involved and we can make sure that it is enforced, not laughed at. This has gone way too far, and the mortality rate of these lizards is very very high. Also, one cannot deny that salmonella is a strong possibility. Please get in touch with me if you can help me, or if you have sent a bill to washington before, I need all the help I can get. The best way to get in touch with me is Email at Snydert@linkny.com you can contact me by phone if you need to at (607)569-2038, but it will be much easier for me to answer email

: : It's already illegal in all states, it's considered cruelty to animals to walk around carnivals, fairs, etc with reptiles. Also these people need permits for there animals just to take them out to places like these, such as exhibitors permits. The laws regaurding reptiles are strict enough as it is, please don't make it any worse.

: Did I miss something here? I believe that Tom was talking about those carnivals where an Ig is given away as a prize. Not just someone walking around with an Ig. My friend has a boa, that she uses in her storytelling business, and she takes him all over the place. Fairs, stores, hospitals etc. Never been hassled, never needed a permit. That's in MO. Don't know about anywhere else....
I see nothing saying the kid got it as a prize. Another thing (doesn't really have to do with this, but...) it's always children that are portrayed in these types of things, why?
