While my Q sounds a little bigger than Minga, he's
still very small. The first time I wanted to
trim his nails, I grabbed a small towel to hold
him in. But the towel was unfamiliar to him and
let him know yet another *different* thing was
about to happen to him.

So, I tried trimming his nails sans towel. When
I'm holding him and walking around each day, once
he's calm he usually has at least one foot that
isn't digging into my skin. I grab the clippers,
which are kept at the ready, and just clip
whatever nails are exposed. Since I'm just taking
off the needle tip, Q doesn't even notice. Sometimes
I get to clip lots of nails; sometimes I only get
one or two.

Since I do this nearly every day, Q is quite
accustomed to it. Also, since I'm clipping nails
that are dangling free, I'm never trying to grip
or hold his feet or toes in place. While I touch
Q's toes often, I don't like to try to restrain
them in any way. They're just so tiny, and I'm
afraid I could hurt him.

Of course, you have to be really, really careful
that the ig doesn't move as you snip.

I've found that sometimes the less fuss you make
about something, the less fuss the iguana makes,
too.

Good luck!
