putting one of our clean old t-shirts that you rub against yourself in their hide box.Igs and other lizards are very scent oriented and they'll get use to your scent this way.Move slowly and from eye level and talk softly oo.Try holding it when it's evening time,,they're tired and a little sleepy and not as resistant to being held at these times.Try and wear a shirt twice that you've had one when you hold him.He will smell his scent on you and feel more secure.
We do this with our kids and have some of the sweetest kids.We do like Mike said also,gently pet his tail and touch his feet,it helps down the road when you need to trim nails and you sure don't want a big tail slapping you either.
Good luck and be patient,it takes time but is definitely worth it.
