It doesn't sound "normal" but it also sounds like there won't be much you can do about it. It might be a calcium buildup or a joint area in their tail that's been dislocated a little. Either way, I don't believe there's much that you can do, other than having surgery done. If it's not bothering the normal movement of the iguana, I would say just leave it alone, but if you notice that it's growing in size, go to a herp vet right away. One of our igs has a crook in his tail slightly from a possible injury before we got him.
Also, some added information might be helpful if you can think of some like Sue2 posted.
