I AM just as guilty as (most of) the rest ... i choose to not even ENTER a pet store for fear of what i will find ..... sooooo ... maybe it's time that WE ALL get up off our collective butts and quit bitching and DO SOMETHING USEFUL about it!!!!
and YES - we are ALL way too busy in our lives already - BUT - if we can find time to post our complaints, i'll bet we could also find time to at least find out what we CAN do and put all of that anger/sad energy into GOOD USE ....... (oh oh ... mom's found a "cause"!!!) ***GRIN***

Somewhere in the world at this very moment someone is buying an iguana at a pet store. The pet store is selling them a 10 gallon aquarium, hot rock, expensive clip lamp, dry packaged food, and telling them to feed the iguana lettuce and crickets. This person will take the iguana home, feed it every day ... give it water ... and watch the new iguana slowly die.

Our NIAD volunteers and state coordinators would like to see the above situation change. All of us own iguanas, and in some cases they have been rescued by other iguana owners who knew as little about their iguanas as they did astrophysics. Through education, we would like to put a stop to impulse iguana buying and would also like to see iguanas in captivity get better care.
