: Hi Mike,
: Since you say that the test took a week for the results to come back then they must have done the culture sensitivity test. As this is usually how long it take to culture anything. It's also alot more money then a plain old fecal float. Usually
: 30 dollars or so.
: Most likely whomever did the culture/sens test they recommended baytril since the salmonella was sensitive to it.
: Your cleaning routine has nothing to do with why your Ig has salmonella, they can carry it in their gut as a normal flora. Perhaps yours has an overgrowth (meaning more then what should be there)
: Your diet could be improved some :-) How about mustard greens, dandelion greens and some turnip greens? Some squashes such as butternut, kabuka, spagetti sqaush. Collard greens are fine, Kale should be used sparingly.
: You might try the lactobacillus acidophilus powder and see if that won't help clear up the diarrhea.
: Recheck your temperatures making sure they are correct as well.
: Of course these are just my own ideas and what has worked for me, so if in doubt get another vets opinion.
laura i forgot to ask you should i still let him free roam in the house now that he has salmonella or should he stay in his cage thanks mike
