both questions don't have a right or wrong answer, it's gonna depend on your ig's reactions ...
as far as holding him ... i'd hold him long enough that he calms down a bit and not so long that he gets upset by it ... (make sense?) ... my little guy calms down fairly quickly once he's in my hand and stays calm for a while ... as soon as i can tell he's getting rather antsy/anxious (5-15 min), i put him back in his house *while he's still fairly calm* ... how long, how often depends *alot* on *your* daily routine and how much time you have ... try to judge by the iglet's reactions what's "too much" ... if he can sit quietly in your hand, eyes open, alert + looking around, dewlap *not* extended, he's calm ... (i seem to have gotten very lucky with my little un-named dude!)
soaking ~ again depends on *your* schedule and what the ig is agreeable to *and* will prob'ly vary from day to day anyway! some days iZ only wants to be in the tub long enough to poop and then get out, other days, he'll lounge + soak for an hour! the little guy isn't sure *what* to think of being in the tub + isn't really sure he likes it at all yet ... he swam + sat on a rock in the tub for 1/2 hour last night but tonight only wanted to get his feet wet + then wanted *out*!!!
i guess what all this rambling is trying to tell you is that there's no set answer ... the most important thing is to learn to understand/read your iglet as he learns to trust + understand you ...
don't know if that helps much ...
