This will sound very obvious, but I recomend that you house him in a cage if keeping him free roaming is to much trouble. This will keep him from doing things like pooping on the coffee table and eating your food (this can be very hazardous as iguanas can transmit salmonila) When you like you can let him out to roam the house, and when you can't deal with all the problems a free roaming iguana cuases you will have somewhere to put him. this also alllows you to monitor his temperature and make sure he is warm enough. Try it, you'll like it.
