it has always worked for us with all our different kids.
Get some old but clean t-shirts and rub them on you and place them in his cage around his hide box.They are very scent oriented and this gets them use to your scent.Then,we you handle him,,wear a blouse(old)for two days in a row that you had on while handling and holding him.That way he'll smell his scent on you.
We've talked about this tecnique to several experts and they say it should work and great idea.All we know is our babies are all tame and loveable.
Welcome to the family and just be patient and slow moving when you handle your baby.It's worth the time and effort.
