: : I use HQI and HQL lamps for my herps since 20 (HQL) or 10 (HQI) years. Concerning light intensity its the best stuff available and installling these lamps, especialy HQI makes generally a BIG difference with respect to activity and color of most lizards. In most devices I use protective glass (just window glass) which completely cuts off all uv. -since thats somehow a waste, I also have 70W HQI bulbs running wiht quartz glass (expensive). Never use NO protective glass, since these bulbs explode upon contact with water drops. I did not dare to use quartz glass with the stronger 150W bulbs-but in conclusion, ists the best light available and I strongly recommend it!
