: He is in a 29 gallon tall tank. I put alot of limbs in there because i read that they are climbing lizzards. I have a regular light bulb for his heat in his basking area his temp is 96-98 degrees and and in his cool side of his cage it is about 88 degrees. He has one uvb floresent bulb running all along his cage. At night i have a black light and it stays about 82 degrees all night. He is about 3 1/2 inches from snout to vent. I think that i have a good set up for right now.

Sounds pretty good. But remember, he will outgrow this tank in 6 months(if not earlier) and need a bigger enclosure. I would start planning now.
Best thing is to build big in the beginning if possible.
I had mine in a 55G for 4 months, He was 12 inches snout-to-tail when I got him, he is now 24 inches snout to tail.
I closed in a corner for is 8' 4' 7' cage, hopefully this will hold him, but I still take him out daily.
Right now your ig is very scared, give him time to adjust, could take a while, just keep at it.
Some say put a worn t-shirt or sock in the enclosure so he can get used to your smell. I take it, you got a good diet for him?
Collards, turnip, mustard, dandelion, greens should be bulk of diet. Add some good veggies and a little fruit. No animal protein. Supplement ocassionally with calcium/no phosphorous.
Any questions on diet, go to the link above, Jen S. site, its an excellent site. Hope things go well and good luck.
Please remember, give him appropriate caging, and I apologize if I sound pushy, but knew a person that tried to keep on in a 10G, he eventually overheated and dehydrated the poor ig, just not enough room to create a temperature gradient.
