Greetings!!! I just got back from taking the little one to the vet for his first check up, I am willing to bet... All in all, he is doing rather well.. He has a few spots on him that looks like scar tissue of some kind, but with all the shedding that he is doing, that is healing up rather nicely. The vet was a little concerned about the kink that is in his tail, but that seems to be filling in nicely. He seemed to think that it was one of two things. Either 1) remnant of MBD that was starting to happen when we picked him up, or 2) a kink that was left from being cramped up in a little (3 - 3 1/2' long) cage.. Considering he is now approaching 46" (from 42" 4 weeks ago), he seems to be doing much better now that he is in a home where we have SOME basic idea of what he needs to grow and be healthy. T evet also did some bloodwork on him, as a baseline, and discovered that his Ca and P levels were a little high, so we were cautioned to cut back on his P levels so he could start digesting more and more of the calcium.. To that end, we were cautioned against the ReptoCal vitamin supplement, as it contains at least 2 sources of P, and not quite enough Ca, so we now have to go find something else to add to his diet... We also brought in the food that the moron that had him b4 us was feeding him, and well, the vet agreed. It was pure garbage. The 2 main ingredients were corn hulls and soy hulls... The rest of the food was basically filler, but it came in nice pretty colors, so the ig would eat it... Now he is on nothing but veggies and fruits, with a supplement.. He is doing MUCH nicer now... All we have to really be concerned with is the possible bacterial infection that is on his tail, and where his left hind leg will rub against it, but the vet gave us a cream to take care of that.. Other than that, his stool sample came back fine and nothing was living in it, so we are safe there... All in all, from describing the conditions that he was in when we got him, to the condition that he is in now, the vet is highly pleased that we took this ig and have given him a better home... Just thought you would like to know...
