In Reply to: Anyone heard of soaking iggy in epsom salt for impaction??? posted by Yancey on June 19, 2000 at 16:24:17:

Yancey thought the problem may have stemmed from a largely cricket diet. When I heard this little thing was having BM's I suggested alfalfa powder and lactobacilis or acidophilis in a slurry to help get some gut flora going. On the cyclura forum it was assumed that the impaction was from undigested crix. I've been in touch with Yancey by email, already highly suggested a different vet, frequent soaks, gentle belly massage, warmer basking area, and supplimentation with the usual slurries. From what I understand this iguana is now on antibiotics too, so the gut flora will be further compromised. I hope, considering she is having bm's, that this was a case of constipation. Yancey, keep in touch. We're pulling for you and the little cyclura.
