Hi, there
I don't have a lot of advice for you, but I do have a couple things that I wanted to say. Here goes:
1. Oh, man, please, whatever you do, *DO NOT* give your rhino and "gentle emema" by yourself! That's the kind of thing that only a vet or certified tech should do. You could (and no offense, but probably would) mess up internal working up horribly. Please don't be offended by that remark, but it's a very touchy procedure.
2. Unless your rhino is very young, very small and/or VERY unhealthy, there is no reason for him to have a poor chance of surviving surgery. Any animal has a small cahcne of not recovering from anesthetic, but it is a small chance, especially if the lizard is healthy.
3. Fiber and roughage would help pass a mild impaction. Iceberg lettuce, which not *nutritious* at all, is a good source of fiber, roughage and hydration. Maybe a small amound of iceberg lettuce, definately along with the rest of his diet, would help a bit.
4. I think that everyone else is right that you should consider looking into taking him to yet *another* vet. A good reptile vet is very hard to come by. Most of us went through many a vet before we found a good one. Some of us still haven't found the ideal vet, yet. Look around.
Hope this helps a bit.
Best,
Jamie/JBug
