Hi, Nick

That's actually a good question with no real easy answer. It's sort of hard to say what amuses and iguana, don't you think? Although it may be a bit of a warning sign that he spends most of the day under his light with his eyes closed. While even a healthy iguana doesn't do gymnastics or read novels in his spare time, most iguanas are pretty active and will move from window to window, shelf to shelf, strut, bob, pose, tease humans, etc. An inactive (and I mean consistantly apathetic and lethargic) may not being warm enough, be getting enough of the right kind of nutrients, or may not feel well. What are you feeding him now? Maybe someone has already told you about this site, but just in case, I've hyper-linked it below. (Jen Swofford's site: very good one!). Maybe try some new diet techiniques and see if that helps. Also, how warm is his cage? You should be aiming for a basking (hot) spot temp of about 97°F, and an ambient (rest of cage) should be about 80°F. No lower than 75°F at night. You see, no matter what good food he gets, he won't be able to make any use out of it if he can't properly digest his food! (They need lots of heat to digest their food.) Lastly, I would strongly recommed taking him to an experienced herp (reptile) vet to have a fecal float, a fecal smear, and a blood panle run. That'll give you a good ground work to establish if he is already healthy or not. I hope this helps!
Good luck!
Best,
Jamie/JBug

: I jsut got i new iguana and i all the sites that i have looked at they never mention what iguanas do all day. Mine just walks around in his cange and eats and sits under his basking light with his eyes closed is this normal. THANKS
