I loved the ig room...it was filled with igs!
It was feeding time while I was there, so there
were iguanas climbing up and down to eat. I was
literally surrounded by them. There were igs who
had always been healthy and those who'd had rough
lives. I met an iguana who had very few toes,
several who had recovered from MBD (and had jaw
and other abnormalities to prove it), and iguanas
who had been burned by hot rocks, heat lamps and
even cigarettes (some people!). There was a big
ig in a window sill who was terrified of people,
but he was getting better. I was standing less
than two feet from him and AE was amazed that he
didn't run.
Before that day, I had actually only met a few
iguanas in my entire life. One when I was a kid,
my Q, and several of AE's rescues last year
at a herp show. To be in a house filled with
iguanas and other reptiles (like AE's 20 lb. ig
Lal and her way cool Nile Monitor) was simply
amazing for me.
Dishy, I hope Darwin comes to live with you soon.
AE and Jonathan (who, during my visit, had the
unenviable task of pulling the legs off crickets
to feed to a crippled beardie) do amazing work.
You couldn't adopt an iguana from a better place!
