My intent on relating my experience, in a somewhat dramatic fashion, was to show how easy it is for anyone to get wrapped up into what is going on here at the forum and what is said.
If you read my story, it includes an exerpt from virtually every post from this forum over the last two months.
I would say that long term posters and newbies can get an "attitude" toward stores, individuals, whatever, without really thinking twice about how they are perceived by people outside of our group. It's kind of like a mob mentality - whereas, we are true and righteous, while our target or non-members are not.
My story demonstrates that whether your consciously know it or not, if you go into a place with a preconceived attitude, you will get an attitude in response - it's a natual recurring thing - we get it here on the forum daily.
For those that don't know, the core of my job is communication, the ability to effectively relate information across all kinds of barriers: pre-conceived, language, attitude, experiential, and knowledge based. So, even a person like myself, who many consider a exceptionally experienced professional, can find it easy to "slip-up" and not exactly do the "right-thing".
In answer to some comments: I really don't go around with a bad attitude, in actuality, I strive to find the positive and the paths to which we can work together ( that's why I get paid the big bucks ). This oftens times requires introspection - which is also part of my story.
Nonetheless, perhaps I could have included this explanation as part of my post, but then it would have been REALLY long.
Anyway, thanks for reading it and I appreciate your feedback. Cliff
