i did some research on a new phosphorus-binding drug (Renagel) that contains no calcium or aluminum + just FYI for anyone who's following this thread ...
this is a fairly new drug + it looks very promising for use in renal failure patients (like iZ) ... prob is that it's *so* new that there are no pediatric guidelines for dosage (+ of course, no dog/cat/pet guidelines)...
another prob is that it comes in capsules and the drug itself *must* be given *in* a capsule, you can't open a capsule + hide it in oranges ... to get a dose small enough for iZ would be possible but i'd have to go thru the compounding pharmacy again + have them specially made ... but that brings us back to prob #1, no guidelines for such a small body ...
i'd mention that it's also rather expensive, but that'd be a non-issue if not for the lack of dosage info ... (what's $$$ when it comes to our babes???!?!?!)
well, TUMS seem to be helping so that's what we'll keep using ... *grin*
thanks for the idea/info tho Gina!!!! everything is worth a few minutes of searching/reading!!!!!
Bon. + iZ
