I just bought a green ameiva and a Fire Skink from a Petsmart yesterday. They had a lot of reptiles, but the manager seemed knowledgeable and the animals were in as good a condition as could be expected considering a large portion of them came from Fluker's.

I think it depends on the location and the manager. This store actually had some lizards I don't normally see in the retail trade. I wouldn't buy an expensive animal from them, but under $40 for the Fire Skink, which is hard to find, was worth it.
