I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Bon: I completely admire, encourage and will staunchly support youe endevors (uh..sp?)with iZ and the exploration of alternative medications. I've been a wee bit put off by the amount of discouragement you've recieved so far. I mean, some folks make it sound like only the ignorant masses take/use/believe in the power of vitamins! I mean, c'mon! I'm proud of you! Besides, honestly, what do you do when there's nothing else to try? Quit?!? No way! (Ugh, I feel like a cheerleader...)

Besides, this has become more than just a crusade for iZ, right? It's an opening door! An educational experience for *all* of us. I mean, I know you're having guilt over trying these "new" things on iZ, and I can totally understand that, no matter how tough I might talk. But think of it this way, Bon: If *no one* ever had a new idea, a new line of thought, tried something new, or balked in the face of the "old" ideas, our igs would probably *still* be eating cat food and monkey biscuits and bugs, right? Just imagine what happened to the first person who ever said, "Hey yall, I don't think these guys are supposed to eat bugs! I think they eat leafy greens! And vegetables high in calcium!" I mean, picture that! That guy (or it could have been a woman, we'll use guy as sort of a unisexual term, ok?) probably got a barrell full of bullsh!t. New ideas are wonderful! They keep people thinking. They keep people researching and learning. ]

Whatta rant, huh? I mean every word. Bon, keep up the good work. You're doing wonderfully by iZ. :)

Best,
Jamie/JBug

: cross post from AIML

: wow ~ everything everyone has to say on this subject, i find myself nodding in agreement with ... lots of very excellent points both for against ...

: i also find myself taking it personally, not in a bad way ... i think what i mean is that this whole topic is hitting home right on the nose ... and, i'm the 1st to admit, i'm a bit paranoid! *grin*

: so ... maybe this is kind of a disclaimer to what i'm doin' with iZ ... ??? (maybe i'm justifying this to myself??? who knows ....)

: as much as i hate the word "experiment", that is pretty much exactly what i am doing with my 'baby dragon' ... experimenting ... i have absolutely *no* proof other than anecdotal that what i am doing is helpful or more importantly *not harmful* ... *none* ...

: what i *do* have is a terminally ill iguana who has stopped responding to the things medical science knows works for renal failure ... this *is* part of the disease, it means it's progessing ... short of putting iZ on a kind of dialysis, there's nothing else to do ... and 'dialysis' would only work for a while before it stopped having any effect too ... since i promised iZ months ago, *No More Shots* + *No More Procedures*, that's out ...

: which brings me back to the point i want to make very clear to everyone ... i most emphatically am *NOT* recommending the things i'm doing for iZ to *ANYONE* else ...

: no tears here, just straight up facts, iZ's kidneys *are* going to kill him ... right or wrong, i hope that my herbs + minerals may keep him happy + more comfortable for a time ... right now, he's feeling pretty good and not acting sick ... but i know that's an ig thing, to "not act sick, til you really really are" ... the signs/symtoms his body displays (whether he likes it or not!) tell me that he *is* still seriously ill ... what i am doing is a list ditch desperate attempt to save my baby dragon ... or at least give him a bit of quality time ...

: ok, i'm seeing some great results so far ...that could be the meds i'm giving him, could be pure coincidence, we don't know ... but let's face it, i seriously doubt that litlle ol' iZ's mom from Iowa is gonna be one who is in on a discovery for the cure for anything!

: i can't tell you *all* how much i appreciate your input, your help in researching various things! but keep in mind, this is *not* for a normal, healthy ig and there's *no way* i'd do this if he was ...

: in other words, if you want to take supplements yourself, fine ... but don't be giving your ig anything besides what we *know* is good for them ... ok?

: *stepping off soapbox*
: Bon.
